"History of Levin & Gann, P.A."

Levin & Gann, P.A. originated in 1916 with the establishment of the practice by Ellis Levin, who soon gained professional and public recognition in the region as a skilled and effective trial lawyer in the State and Federal courts of Maryland . Mr. Levin was then joined by his son, the late Calman A. Levin, and his son-in-law, Stanford G. Gann, Sr. who continues the litigation practice for which the Firm is still well known and respected.
In the 1960's, after Mr. Ellis Levin's death, the Firm began to diversify. While Stanford G. Gann, Sr. carried on the Firm's litigation tradition and developed a growing business and trial practice, Calman A. Levin, set the foundation for the Firm's estates and trust practice.
Today, clearly established in both state-wide and local communities, Levin & Gann concentrates on providing legal services to a broad range of clients at all levels of sophistication who seek representation from experienced, well-credentialed lawyers. Historically, clients have been treated by the Firm's attorneys not as a source for revenue and professional promotion, but rather as family or friends, requiring clear and honest advice and protection. The Firm seeks to avoid the excessive overhead associated with the maintenance of marketing and other departments that have made legal services today unnecessarily expensive. Moreover, Levin & Gann, by design, attempts to keep its number of attorneys limited with appropriate staff support. In that manner, attorneys are familiar with client issues and are readily accessible to the client.
In addition to maintaining its highly regarded business, litigation, estate planning and probate departments, the years have seen the Firm add departments specializing in corporate and business transactions, taxation, real estate law, employment law, land use, zoning, regulatory and governmental matters before legislative bodies in various municipalities and states together with appearances before and lobbying of the executive branches of government. The Firm has acquired an additional dimension in its representation of debtors and creditors in its Financial Services Department, which provides legal services in both the transactional and work-out aspects of lending and debtors/creditors' rights. Recently, the Firm has expanded its litigation department to include a renowned medical negligence practice and an experienced construction law practice.
The focus and mission of Levin & Gann has been and will continue to be the quality representation of individuals as well as business and commercial clients, including major real estate developers, individual property owners, and small and large employers on a timely basis and at cost effective standards and rates, together with emphasis on direct communication with clients as a mandatory ingredient of that representation.
