The Family Law Department of Levin & Gann, P.A. was started by the late Ellis Levin (1893-1960). In 1960, the Family Law Department came under the leadership of Stanford G. Gann, Sr. Today, the Department primarily handles divorces with an emphasis on the issues of alimony, monetary awards and child support. In addition, the Department protects its clients' assets through development of pre-marital agreements to avoid post-marital conflicts. The Department includes Mr. Gann, Sr., and Debra Cruz, with assistance from Mayer E. Guttman with regard to the various related tax issues inherent in the practice of family law.
The Family Law Department attempts to balance a fully integrated approach in the handling of these most sensitive and difficult matters. The attorneys appreciate that many aspects of divorce create serious emotional consequences, not only to the litigants but to those who are not necessarily parties to the action. To ameliorate these often unintended harms, the Firm regularly works with outside counselors to obtain the best possible results with a minimum amount of disruption and emotional injury.
Often divorces and property settlements create or exacerbate significant tax or business consequences. Mayer E. Guttman, a specialist in tax and business planning, strives to minimize these issues and develop a cohesive strategy to maximize resources and minimize negative financial consequences. These strategies are communicated to both the client and within the Firm for implementation into any final resolution
