John J. “Jack” Condliffe joined LEVIN GANN P A as a principal in 2011. Prior to that time, he practiced for many years with his wife until her retirement. His practice areas include family law and adoption, complex personal injury cases, estate litigation, appellate law.
Mr. Condliffe received the prestigious Leadership in Law Award from the Maryland Daily Record in 2013. An acknowledged leader in the law, Mr. Condliffe served as President of the Board of the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland (the pro bono arm of the Maryland State Bar Association) for two years and was a board member for ten years. He served as a Governor of the Maryland Association of Justice for eight years. Mr. Condliffe is the author of the alimony chapter of Maryland Divorce and Separation Law. He has published a number of articles and has lectured widely. He has been recognized as a Maryland Super Lawyer™ each year from 2010-2016.
Mr. Condliffe has won many appellate cases that have changed Maryland law including Bozman v. Bozman, (abrogating spousal immunity); Aronson v. Aronson, (standard for voluntary and mutual grounds of divorce), Volodarsky v. Tarachanskaya (establishing the standard of evidence for abuse based visitation restrictions) and nearly two dozen other published appellate decisions.
Mr. Condliffe graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in 1974 and he received his B.S. from the University of Oregon in 1978. After service in the Peace Corps and successful career in business, he received his J.D. from the University of Maryland in 1991.
